Fitness & Fun

All year long you can stay active at the 85,000-square-foot Windsor Recreation Center. You’ve got the aquatics center with multiple areas for exercise with 3 lap lanes, swim lessons with a splash area and zero-depth entry pool, or flat-out fun with the lazy river and water slide.

The fitness center is state-of-the-art with the latest equipment including Cybex cardiovascular and weight equipment (if you know, you know), plus space for wellness classes that you can find in their Activity Guide. And you can keep your walking or jogging routine even when it’s frigid outside with the rec center’s overhead indoor track.

Growing Restaurants & Bars

There’s a burgeoning restaurant and bars scene that you’ll truly appreciate, because you don’t have to drive far to have a good time. In fact, you may not need to drive at all because downtown Windsor is just over a mile away from Prairie Song.

Here are a few recommendations to check out next time you’re in town, and to keep on your must-try list for when you move into Prairie Song:

  • Peculiar Ales – Bring the kids and even the pup to this fun brewery with an awesome patio and robust list of beers to try.
  • The Hearth – Super cool and super delicious for a late lunch, happy hour and night out.
  • Windsor Mill Tavern – Built in the old Windsor Mill, this unique underground pub is warm and welcoming.
  • Chimney Park – The perfect spot for a date night with an upscale setting and a great steak.

History & Exploration

The Windsor Art and Heritage Center is completely free to attend and hosts a myriad of exhibitions throughout the year, examining both historical and contemporary phenomena through the lens of Windsor as a town. Whatever the season, you’ll find contemplative and interesting exhibits to explore at the Windsor Art and Heritage Center.

The Windsor History Museum is an open-air museum featuring a variety of historic buildings constructed between 1882 and the 1920s, including an old schoolhouse and a train depot with exhibits and hands-on activities. It’s a wonderful, free way to spend an afternoon or full day in Windsor, especially when book-ended by a meal at one of the town’s delicious restaurants.

The Outdoors Right Outside Your Door

The new homes at Prairie Song will be conveniently connected to downtown Windsor with a network of attaching trails that not only provides accessibility, but also creates immersive natural experiences for everyone in the region.

Windsor Lake is a short bike ride or walk from Prairie Song, with a 2.25-mile trail that circles the lake, a dog park, a swim beach, and opportunities for fishing and boat rental. Windsor is also the western terminus of the Poudre River Trail, a 21-mile trail that runs along the Cache la Poudre River all the way to Greeley. This wide, paved trail is perfect for all ability levels, with a variety of parks and open space along its length: relax in a beautiful stand of cottonwood trees at Island Grove Park; entertain your furry friend at River Run Dog Park; or spy on the native animals at the Kodak Watchable Wildlife Area.

Prairie Song is being developed with the peace of outdoor experiences as a central tenant for the community, meaning the surrounding natural areas will be celebrated and respected by residents and builders alike.

Community parks are dotted throughout the community, each offering something unique for the differing needs of our multi-generational residents coming to Prairie Song. From Birdsong Park to Amity Garden, there’s a reason behind the design of these parks that you’ll soon come to appreciate when you experience them on a daily basis.

New Homes and New Neighbors to Help Windsor Flourish

With the development of a community comes improvement to the area that benefits everyone – not only Prairie Song residents, but also its neighbors.

The National Association of Home Builders estimates a dramatic economic impact from the construction of 100 single-family homes in a local area. A development like Prairie Song can create as much as $4.1 million in local income, an additional million dollars in taxes and revenue for local governments, and nearly 70 local jobs.

Beyond its economic benefits, Prairie Song’s master-plan design is bringing enhanced open spaces with respect for the natural environment.

Humming Trail will further the open-air connections between downtown Windsor and its surrounding communities. It will encourage all Windsor residents to take advantage of more opportunities to get some fresh air while commuting, and in turn cut down on emissions and time spent in our cars.

Community parks will strengthen pollinator populations and provide well-landscaped areas to take a breath and take it all in. Because when you put intention behind designing parks with purpose, everyone benefits.

Prairie Song is designed to become part of the Windsor area landscape in a meaningful and positive way, with new homes and new neighbors that add value to the community. Take a spin through the community with our Interactive Community Map before we can invite you to join us here.
